CONVENTION PREVIEW

Spend the day with HLW!
A special presentation from Hartland Locomotive Works, a tour of the HLW facilities, exclusive sales to BTOC members only and a free limited-edition souvenir car to all participants. Plus, a visit to the Paradise Railroad, a privately-owned 1/8 scale steam railroad with 4 1/2 miles of tracks, tunnels, streams, bridges and the world’s longest 1/8 scale trestle. Lunch at the Paradise Railroad included.

Hesston Steam Museum, La Porte, IN
History comes alive at the Hesston Steam Museum as real steam locomotives take you on a spectacular two and a half mile journey. Ride the 1/4 scale and 1/8 scale railroads also. The Hesston Steam Museum is filled with other steam powered machinery including a saw mill, a railroad steam crane, steam-powered power plant, steam-traction engines and more. A behind the scenes tour and a visit to the engine house is planned. Drawing for a cab ride. Brunch buffet included.

Taltree Arboretum G-scale layout
The Railway Garden is an outdoor G-scale model train garden that tells the amazing story of America’s steam engine history and its impact on the United States civil war, expansion west and the industrial revolution. The garden landscape is a varying topography of mountains, canyons and prairies and home to a large collection of miniature conifers. Train room/control area tour and lunch included.

National NY Central RR Museum, Elkhart, IN
Founded in 1987, the National New York Central Railroad Museum, recaptures the glory days when the America’s railroads were symbols of progress and goodwill ambassadors across the country and is an ever-growing preservation site of both local and national railroad heritage pertaining to the New York Central System. It is located next to the largest railroad freight classification yard east of the Mississippi River. Plus a visit to the Amish Acreas historical site with a family-style Amish dinner.

Hoosier Valley RR Museum, North Judson, IN
Situated near the former junction of the Erie, PRR, C&O, and NYC in historic North Judson, HVRM offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and smells of railroading during its heydays. Ride on an authentic caboose pulled by a vintage diesel locomotive during a special 2 1/2 hour BTOC charter. Take in the sites and sounds of rural life while traveling through the farmland of Northwest Indiana. Then on to...

Monon Connection Museum, Monon, IN
The museum offers a world class collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the railroads bygone era. Museum exhibits include an exquisite display of dining car china and silver, hundreds of hand-held lanterns, some dating back to pre Civil War, dozens of restored brass steam locomotive bells and whistles, and a completely furnished, full size replica of an Illinois Central depot. Lunch included at the
Whistle Stop Restaurant, adjacent to the museum.
